Prerequisites Before Pickup

Our customers and clan members are very close to our herats and therefore we like to make sure we keep them safe and that life is carefree. We provide comprehensive insurance cover as standard but in order to do so we need the following from each customer prior to the hire commencement. 

  1. Copy of the photo card drivers’ licence (Address & ID must be up to date)
  2. Online DVLA licence check
  3. Two proof of address from separate sources (Must meet all mentioned criteria below)
  4. Cleared a traceable security deposit (BACS, Credit/Debit Card, PayPal, Cheque etc.)
  5. Signed rental agreement

Additional criteria:-

  • Must be aged between 21 and 79 and have at least 2 years driving experience (Full UK, EU Licence types)
  • Two, 3 point convictions are acceptable (i.e. 2x Sp30’s, 3pts each).
  • Single convictions totalling 6 points+ will require referral to our insurers prior to hire and therefore we will need at least 5 working days notice.
  • No more than 1 fault or outstanding accident/claim/incident in the last 3 years

Proof of Address
The following documentation is acceptable for proof of address alongside the drivers licence
You must provide a total of 2 proofs of address from the the following: –

  • 1 x primary proof of address and 1x secondary proof of address

or

  • 2 x primary proof of address

Key document criteria: –

  • Both must be dated within 90 days of the hire date
  • The address & name on your licence must match both documents

    • Broadband/Landline (Including Sky/Virgin/BT)
    • Council tax
    • TV licence
    • Bank Statement
    • Credit card bill / statement
    • Mortgage statement

    • HMRC self-assessment / tax credit / DWP

Secondary Proof of Address

    • Student loan
    • Shotgun licence
    • Payslip
    • Mobile Phone Bills
    • Pension letters
    • Car Finance Statement
    • Loan Statement
    • Property deed

Frequent Queries: –

  • Hirer has an EU or Foreign licence and they cannot do a licence check online, what can they do?
    • If an EU licence holder under 70 years of age living in the UK and meets all criteria mentioned above they will be covered as standard.
    • If one of the following licence types UK & EU have been living in the UK for less than 12 months and can supply 2 proofs (from previous list) + passport they are covered as standard.
    • If longer than 12 months they must have a valid UK drivers licence and proof to match (from previous list).
    • Anything outside of the above must be referred to the insurers.
    • For any EU licence that does not contain the correct address to match the proof provided, please obtain a Passport alongside the standard documentation.

  • Hirer has paid for the rental but won’t be driving, do we need to take a payment from the actual driver?
    • Payment (of any amount) via a cleared & traceable method must be obtained by the primary driver/hirer/renter unless otherwise agreed by the insurers

 

  • Hirer has 9 points (three 3 point offences)?
    • Additional £500 excess will apply

 

  • Single 6 point offence (MS90, IN10, CU80, CD and SP offences)?
    • Requires a referral to our insurers prior to hire and therefore we will need at least 5 working days notice.

 

  • Single 4 point offence
    • Covered under the standard terms

 

  • Any conviction leading to a ban/disqualification must be referred to our insurers prior to hire and therefore we will need at least 5 working days notice.

Incorrect details/expired drivers licence?
You will need written confirmation from the DVLA confirming the adjustments have been made. This confirmation (usually supplied via email) alongside the client’s proof of address, existing licence and updated DVLA check code will suffice. For any expired licences please refer to the most recent Government announcements regarding licence extension: –

Expired licences within the extension are covered as standard.

Any medical conditions?
The insurers do not discriminate against medical conditions. So long as the DVLA/Doctor/GP have not imposed any restrictions then you are covered as standard.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE CRITERIA ABOVE AND / OR YOU ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE RELELVANT DOCUMENTATION AND CHECKS WE WILL NOT BE TO RELEASE THE VAN TO THE HIRER AND YOU WILL BE LIABLE FOR THE FULL COST OF THE BOOKING.
